Houston Bearing & Supply Co., Inc. was founded by Ray Harkrider and Elroy Wiederhold in October 1976.  Both men are well known locally for their knowledge and experience and are highly respected in the power transmission distribution business.  Together Ray and Elroy brought more than fifty years experience in power transmission sales to the business.  The two had worked together for fifteen years at a local company.  Both men worked as commissioned salesmen for other bearing companies until they began working together to establish Houston Bearing & Supply Co, Inc.

      Today Elroy's son, Roger Wiederhold, is the President of Houston Bearing & Supply. Mr. Ray Harkrider retired in 1997; Mr. Elroy Wiederhold retired in 2008.

      The company was started with the personal funding of both partners and for three years required no additional resources.  The first outside funding came in 1980 enabling expansion of the facility, product line and the sales staff.  Houston Bearing & Supply  relocated to it's current location in September of 1981.
      Houston Bearing & Supply Co., Inc. serves a wide variety of customer needs ranging from engineering assistance to the sale of parts and supplies to industrial customers.  Houston Bearing & Supply also offers an in-house machine shop.

      The company began with Browning as it's only product line.  Due to the ongoing success of Houston Bearing & Supply it has expanded to represent over one hundred manufacturers.  Houston Bearing & Supply has a more extensive inventory than most of it's larger competitors which allows it to provide same or next day service.  It is this type of individualized service that keeps our customers loyal. 

 Houston Bearing began a tradition of holding successful fishing tournaments in Sargent, TX.
